Tammy Shifflett, RN, BSN, CDE, CPT
Certified Diabetes Educator
Tammy Shifflett is a Registered Nurse, Certified Diabetes Educator and Certified Insulin Pump Trainer.
She has experience as a RN in both acute care and critical care nursing and through that clinical experience, she saw what diabetes can do to our bodies if left uncontrolled. When she was given the opportunity to become a CDE, she knew it would be a wonderful chance to help prevent all the complications that diabetes can cause. This is Tammy’s true passion, to help prevent complications of diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, and heart disease. Tammy’s goal is to help her patients understand how diabetes affects them, and how their medications work to manage their diabetes.
Tammy has worked in both inpatient and outpatient settings and has a special interest in training patients on insulin pumps and continuous glucose monitors. She has experience working with adults, pediatric and gestational diabetes patients. Her youngest pump patient so far was 6 months old and oldest was 86 years old. She feels you are never too young or too old to have great control with diabetes!
