Q: I'm a type I diabetic looking to get some information about what you have to offer for someone who is wanting to train more seriously for competitive bike racing. Thanks!

A: I too am living with Type 1 diabetes (25 years and counting!) - I currently manage via an insulin pump and CGMS [Continuous Glucose Monitoring System]  (yes... I am addicted to my continuous monitor! I I am always happy to share both my personal and professional experience.

Fit4D provides individualized exercise & nutrition plans, specifically for people living with diabetes.  As a coaching client, you receive a team of diabetes specialists - exercise physiologists, dietitians, diabetes nurses and personal trainers, with a wide range of expertise, who work closely with you to get you to your goal.  As a team, we have worked with all levels of fitness, from couch potato to Century cyclists, tri-athletes, and ultra-endurance athletes (Ironman prep).  We are a unique team with a wide range of experience and expertise... but our true value lies in understanding the balancing act that is life with diabetes.

You didn't say what level or type of competitive cycling you do, but to be absolutely honest, if your need lies in finding the right training program to get you where you want to be... you might be wisest to work with a certified cycling coach locally (for assessment & development of technique/efficiency).  Or/and to connect with someone with both top-notch coaching and competitive experience/achievement in your sport.   If you are looking for the diabetes management knowledge & support to allow you to train, perform, and compete at the level you desire, then Fit4D is for you.  In the ideal world, a combination of these 2 coaching approach would be most optimal.

We do have customized diabetes specific plans that can be set up around another coaching program (as mentioned above), to assist you with blood sugar balancing around exercise training.  I do have a excellent USA cycling coach colleague that I can refer you to, if you would like that level of expertise.
