Claire Banks, RN, BSN, CDE

Fit4D Nutrition Coach

Claire Banks is a Registered Nurse, Certified Diabetes Educator, and Insulin Pump Trainer. After she graduated in 1994 from the University of Central Florida with a Bachelors of Science in Nursing she went straight into pediatric nursing. This began her love and passion in working with patients and their families of newly diagnosed children who had type 1 diabetes mellitus. Claire felt privileged to be a part of such a delicate time in a family. It was during these moments that she realized she wanted a full time career as a Diabetes Educator.

Claire worked as a Pediatric Diabetes Educator at Nemours Children’s Clinic in Orlando. She felt truly blessed to help so many children and their families learn to live with diabetes and not let it control their lives. She also enjoyed teaching patients advanced diabetes self-management skills, such as; insulin pumps, multiple daily injections, and pattern management.

After getting married and moving to Texas for three years, Claire was challenged with working in a different diabetes population – adults. “I received a wonderful education from the team I worked with and the adult population really touched my heart. They have so many more challenges in juggling their home, work, children, and culture. Being allowed into someone’s life is something I do not take for granted and take very seriously.” Claire truly enjoys working with adults and pediatrics, type 1 and type 2 diabetes, and feels honored to help someone take control of their life.

Recently, Claire has returned to the United States after being stationed in Italy for four years with her husband. Claire has been working in Middle Tennessee as a CDE and has a renewed passion for working with patients with diabetes.
