Kirstin Grant is a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist and Certified Diabetes Educator and has a Master of Science in nutrition. She has twenty years of experience helping people better manage diabetes, weight concerns, and cardiovascular disease. She has served in capacities as varied as running the nutrition program of an outpatient diabetes education center of a community hospital, to collaborating with Endocrinologists in their private medical practice. Kirstin also has experience working with children and their families to improve eating habits and increase fruit & vegetable consumption as well as adult clients with digestive complaints via her private nutrition consulting practice. In addition, she has completed specialized training in adult weight management from the American Dietetic Association.
Kirstin’s passion as a Diabetes Educator is to help her patients fit their diabetes self management into their busy lifestyle instead of feeling as if their diabetes controls their life. She knows sometimes having and managing diabetes can feel like an overwhelming full time job. She believes, however, that it doesn’t have to be this way. Kirstin teaches her patients useful tricks and tips to make daily diabetes tasks less overwhelming and coaches them along the way, working on small manageable goals. She knows that making continual small changes, with quickly realized results, leads to new permenant behaviors. She breaks complicated diabetes information down into easily understandable facts for patients to embrace and more easily incorporate into their daily routine.
“I am excited to help patients with diabetes better understand what’s needed and coach them as they make changes that will enhance their health and quality of life. Working via the internet and telephone gives patients’ frequent, convenient outreach with ongoing support as they work towards achieving their goals.”
