A Message From David Weingard, Founder, Fit4D

As we know, it is critical for those of us with diabetes to take care of our health. We are constantly reminded of the long-term potential consequences of diabetes. In the short-term, high and low blood sugars affect our energy levels, moods and relationships with friends, family and co-workers.

The number one thing that people with diabetes can do to positively impact their health is to improve their fitness and nutrition. Some of the great resources widely available for people with diabetes include extensive on-line content, community forums and employer programs. The medical community is supportive of diabetics improving their fitness and diet as well. So, what is missing?

Those of us with diabetes understand that the formula for improving fitness and eating right is not so simple. Just because fruit is nutritionally healthier than cookies doesn’t mean that eating it has the same effect in people with diabetes; right? Carbs are carbs… and that is what impacts people with diabetes. Just because we belong to a gym or a friend is encouraging us to walk with them before work -- doesn’t necessarily meant we feel motivated enough to do it. Just because we want to lose weight – doesn’t mean we can simply go on a diet without affecting our diabetes. And, for those motivated to eat well and exercise regularly – we are continually attempting to cope with the challenges of doing it with diabetes.

In addition, today’s busy world doesn’t give us the time to repeatedly take time off from work, miss daily personal and/or family obligations or travel far to visit diabetes specialists who can help us.

What we need is someone "in our corner" who is there for us every day helping us cope with our diabetes. Whatever our goal, a "coach" can help us through the daily challenges of diabetes and provide personalized guidance. We need someone accessible to us in ways that fit into our life and when we need it (not just the day of an on-site appointment).

Fit4D was founded to provide people with diabetes access to coaches with extensive diabetes expertise. Fit4D provides continuous motivational support to people with diabetes. We are always available – Not with limited hours, not in a hard to access location.
